Press release - Iceland Express
Eat Like The God Of Thunder
Strong-stomached adventurers who want to put their taste buds to the test should head to Iceland for the annual Thorrablot celebrations with Iceland Express.
Running from 20 January to 18 February 2012, the festival honours the Viking god of thunder, Thor, with singing, dancing and the consumption of traditional Viking food.
With daily flights on offer from London Gatwick, travellers can try some of the more, erm, unusual delicacies such as singed sheep eyeballs, rotten shark, pickled ram testicles, smoked lamb and jellied sheep heads. However, delicious rye bread, skyr (like yoghurt but tastier) and brennivin (an Icelandic spirit) are also on the Thorrablot menu.
For those who want to experience Thorrablot first-hand, low-fare carrier Iceland Express is offering flights from £79 one-way including a bag in the hold, cabin bag, taxes and surcharges and no charge to check-in or for seat allocation.
Restaurant Reykjavik is offering a Thorroblot menu including smoked lamb, traditional herring and soured meats from £31 (ISK5900) per person and hostel accommodation at Reyjavik’s hottest hangout, Kex, starts from £23 per person; while travellers stomachs will be stretched, their wallets won’t be.
Groups looking to enjoy a full viking experience can dine at Víkingakráin (The Viking Inn) which has viking-themed interior and several set menu options starting from £24 (ISK4900) per person.
Iceland Express is a low-fare airline that offers exceptional value with no hidden extras. Luggage, check-in and taxes/surcharges are all included in the original price quoted by the airline.
