Press release - Iceland Express

Start spreading the news - New York is here to stay

Iceland Express announces future plans for trans-Atlantic route
Release date: 28.07.10

Due to the continued success of its New York route, Iceland Express is once again extending its service to the Big Apple – permanently.

The low-fare airline will make the London Gatwick to Newark International service a lasting fixture on its schedule after receiving an average of 90 per cent load rates since the route launch in June 2010.

Iceland Express puts its ongoing success down to the fact that it is an honest airline offering genuinely low-cost fares and no hidden charges.

“What you see is what you get with Iceland Express and our passengers seem to like our sincere attitude and no hidden extras service,” says Matthias Imsland, Iceland Express CEO.

“We offer low fares across all our routes and the New York service is particularly well priced, hence its popularity and constantly high load rate. We will continue to offer seats to New York at a low cost.”

Iceland Express commenced flying from London Gatwick to New York’s Newark International Airport on 1 June 2010.

Prices start from £299 return including taxes – a price Iceland Express will continue all year round, even during New York’s popular winter season.

The service operates four times a week and allows for passengers to enjoy a stopover in Reykjavik before flying on to the bright lights of the Big Apple.
